These pumpkin are a hit every year. Each child is given a brown paper bag with their name on the bottom and a few sheets of newspaper. Show them how to tear the paper in small pieces to fill their bags. I like to to this in groups of 3 or 4 so you can watch that they are tearing small pieces and not just filling the bag as quickly as they can with large pieces.
After their bags are about 2/3 of the way full I close the tops and add a rubber band to keep the contents inside. Then comes the paint, first orange on the bottom then the green on the top. Keep an eye on them so they don't paint the bottoms... this project is messy enough..lol
You can turn them into jack-o-lanterns as it get closer to Halloween, or
make apples the same way painting the bottoms their favorite apple
color and the stem green.
